Mario  is a fictional character created by game designer Shigeru miyamoto. Serving as Nintendo's mascot, Mario has appeared in over 200 video games since his creation. Though originally only appearing in platform games, starting with Donkey kong, currently Mario appears in many genres of games, such as racing, puzzle, role-playing, fighting, and sport games, and many others.

 How did mario get popular?well it was because in 1981,the very first nintendo game that came out was starting with Mario,at the game of ´´DonkeyKong´´,where Mario was named jumpman,When Donkey Kong came to the US and Europe jumpman had been renamed Mario,this game was an arcade game,at those times it was the most famous and fun,thats what made Nintendo rock.Mario was the most funest videogame character(and still is),so the game of Mario bros came out and thats when luigi was born,so since the game of DonkeyKong was great and Mario came out at the game,everyone knew that mario
 bros. was awesome becuse Mario came out,and he had a brother,Luigi,so then mario got popular.

  Somewhat surprisingly, Mario’s next appearance was as a villain. In Donkey Kong Jr. the eponymous hero is trying to save his father from the plumber – who has locked him in a cage, but fairly soon Mario was back to his heroic ways with Mario Bros – released in 1982.
                                                            

Yes,if you didnt know there was a cartoon of super mario,named:super Mario bros supershow! in north america,1989.The characters where diffrent,like bowser,acctualy at the super show he wasent named bowser he was named ´´king koopa´´,and he was much diffrent than how we reconize him right now.These animated drawings where shorts of 15 minutes,behind this,the company dic entertaiment got together with Nintendo and made at the last third of 1989,the first from these three series:Super Mario bros super show.This show started and ended with a scene in live,wich completed a animated episode of 13 minutes.The next serie,the adventures of super mario bros 3(1990),presented new disings of the characters,places and details much more close to the video game and stories that hapend in the mushroom kingdom like in real life.The king koopa was still the same as evil,but his seven kids put him a little humor at his evilness.

how?well it was because shigeru miyamoto wanted mario to work hard,so for the players to reconize him,he wanted him not a heoric nor handsome,he just wanted him to  be a ordinary man.

Mario's given occupation is that of being a plumber. With the exceptions of mario & luigi superstar saga and the original mario bros, he is almost never seen carrying out his occupation in the games. Pipes have, however, remained a mode of transportation. Mario was most often seen plumbing during the animated series. He was very knowledgeable about tools and fixing pipes in the movie. In the original Donkey Kong games however, when Mario was called Jumpman, he was in fact a carpenter.In the Dr. mario series series of puzzle games, which debuted in 1990, Mario has been depicted as a medical physician. In 2001, Mario appeared in Dr mario 64, an updated version of the original puzzle game. Dr. Mario appeared as a secret character in the Gamecube game super smash bros melee, and in another updated version of the original, Dr. Mario Virus Buster, for Wiiware. In the Game boy title Mario's picross, Mario was depicted as an archaeologist.
